Posted by Bob on May 28, 2004: Hey everyone. Today's comic is a bit different than the other ones. I did this one just like I did my Game-Rave guest comic. I inked it by hand on paper, then scanned it and colored it from there. Normally, I draw it on paper, scan it and ink it digitally. I changed things up a bit for Jason, and so I wanted to see how it would look with one of our comics. I honestly don't see THAT big of a difference personally, so I think I may do it this way more often. The digital inks are the most time consuming process of doing this comic, and when I inked it by hand, it seemed to go quicker. Granted, I do have to clean up some miscellaneous crap after I scan it, but all in all, it works out better, I feel. What do you think? You can email me, or post in the forums. I'm in there constantly; I'll respond to everything. Oh, and before I get to the rest of this post, I just want to make sure everyone knows that the fourth panel's camera angle is from behind Bob. It might be a little hard to see that, so I just wanted to make it a bit more clear.
Oh, Ebay, how you tease me so. I so want to bid on this it's not even funny.
I feel I should show this off....It's like my duty or something. I can proudly say I don't own a single one of these cds, thank you! Although I will admit that I do own a Vanilla Ice cd...It's the one called "Hard to Swallow," which was his "rap/rock rebirth." I heard that Vanilla Ice was gonna to a rock cd, and I instantly knew I had to hear that. So, yes. I do own that. I kinda figured that I would not like it, but I was almost more afraid that I would. Y'know, I've gotta say that it's not that bad. Granted, it's not the greatest cd I own. Far from it. But dammit, it's not the worst. Surprisingly.
Ha ha ha, Jewel sucks. That's a great news story right there. Make sure you read it, if you read nothing else I link to today.
Need new shoes? How about these? Aaaaaaawwwww yeah. MACKIN-STYLE!
I want to do a movie review today. And, seeing as this is (partly) my site and all, I'm going to. Amanda and I watched Elephant the other day. If you are not familiar with the movie, it is more or less a look at a run of the mill day in a nameless high school in America. Until something goes wrong. The movie takes it's cue directly from the events of Columbine, obviously, as the big climax of the movie results in two students shooting up the school. The one thing I really liked about this movie was it's anti-MTV/ADD attention level shots. There are shots that are a good five minutes long; the camera stays behind a character as he walks across the school campus-hardly any dialogue, just a character going from one place to another. Not many movies do things like that anymore. I was happy to see it. That's about where the things I liked ended, sadly. The cast is made up of no-name wanna be actors, and it shows. Once the shooting starts, characters look like they don't even care what is going on around them. The acting is simply awful. The story isn't that great either. Yes, it is about kids shooting other kids in a school. Yes, we do meet the killers before the events occur. But we are not given any real reason as to why they shoot people. We see one of them get picked on very briefly. We see them play piano and play a very cheap looking FPS video game. We see them make out in a shower. (And with one looking like a little Eminem and the other looking like a little David Arquette, it's actually a funny scene, unintentionally.) But are these good reasons to kill people? I didn't buy it. The ending of the movie is bad as well. I know it is supposed to be up to everyone's interpretation, but it's more like Gus Van Sant giving the audience the middle finger. It's someting big right about to happen, then just...credits. Ugh. All in all, I'd say avoid Elephant unless you have nothing else to do, in which case, rent something else, as it's really not that good of a movie.
*Whew* My keys are smoking...is that a bad sign? Back in a week.

Posted by Steve on May 28, 2004: *sigh* How sad is it that I'm the writer, yet Bob is so much better than me at this news post (is that one word or two?) thing that he's taken over top billing on the front page. Actually, I'm fine with that. He's better with that linking thing that seems to be the key to a healthy news post. When he links to something, it comes across as "Oh man, this shit is really cool! You gotta check it out!" When I link to something, it comes across as "So, you know, read this, or something." I guess I'll just let him take over main posting duties (he bitches about having to come up with a decent news post, but deep down he loves being first on the front page) and I'll just chime in when needed.
Anyway, Bob's line in the second panel is indeed from X-Men. I love that line. I use it all the time. Also, the comic's title comes from the Beastie Boys track "sabotage", because 1) it fit with the comic and 2) Bob hates the Beastie Boys, so it'll kill him to have a reference to them in the archive. That's just the kind of prick I am. See you next week.
